Friends, Fellow Canadians, Americans & Caring Humanitarians:

I approach you to request your talents, time, and financial and material support. We are organizing a relief mission trip to an orphanage located in China , formerly known as Tibet .

Warithang Welfare Elementary Residential Orphanage exists in the direst circumstances:

• The facility lacks running water, bathrooms, bathtubs & showers and playground
• They need emergency medical relieve fund.
• Food Supplies, Heating supplies, Medical Supplies
• The children need basic clothing items such as jackets, boots, socks, hats, snow pants, etc.
• They need one more building to accommodate the 50 new orphans/student admission each year and also the addition of 1 Grade each year. Currently we have upto Grade 6th and 200 kids.
• The truck rental is very expensive and so need a truck

At present there are 200 orphans being cared for in an orphanage built to accommodate 200 children and there are another 500 children in need of immediate care in the Tibetan high plateaus but our hands are tight due to limited fundings.

I am appealing for assistance in many areas:

Medical: Surgeons to remove cataracts for about 500 people or more
Doctors/Nurses
Dentists to perform extractions and fillings/Denturists
Physiotherapists/ Chiropractors
Orthopedic Specialists
Social Workers
Medicine, medical supplies and equipment
Education: Teachers
School Supplies: Books, Labtops, paper and writing supplies
Games, puzzles, stuffed toys
Fundraising Volunteer as a fundraiser
Mechanical/Electrical Technicians
Possibly set up a new generator/power source if funds are available
Transportation Donate “air miles points” for volunteers
Air Freight
Truck or Bus ( 24 to 37-person capacity)
Contractors/Carpenters/Construction
Other Specialized Volunteer Services

Our tentative plans are to leave for the Orphanage about July 2009. Volunteers are being asked to commit for a short term of 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks or long term from few months to 1 year, be prepared to assist in organizing the groups that will be traveling with us, or volunteer for a longer term of several months or even years to run all kinds of activities such as teaching English, games, computer skills, industrial arts and providing medical care for the area. Meals, lodging, sheets, blankets, mattresses and laundry services will be provided during your stay. Transportation costs and a donation to cover food costs are extra. We suggest you bring extra clothes and leave them as a donation to the people in this area upon your return.

There will be an opportunity for volunteers to enjoy sight seings and some hiking trips during your stay in this beautiful part of Tibet .

This is an incredible opportunity for you to REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of hundreds of people. If you are unable to commit the time to travel to this country we also ask if you would sponsor one or more children every month which would provide the financial assistance to take these children off the streets, feed, clothe and educate them through to university or college.
